Akasa Air, BPCL successfully operate commercial flight using 1% SAF
In India, The Economic Times reported that Akasa Air successfully operated a commercial flight using conventional aviation turbine fuel blended with 1% SAF supplied by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL).
The initiative builds on the Memorandum of Understanding signed by Akasa Air and BPCL in July 2026 to explore the adoption of SAF and other opportunities supporting aviation decarbonization, according to the report.
Ankur Goel, Chief Financial Officer, Akasa Air, said: “Scaling SAF in India will require coordinated action across the ecosystem, supported by domestic supply, enabling policy and commercial viability. We are committed to exploring this transition.”
