RWE to supply renewable energy for Air Products’ hydrogen plants
In Bulgaria, Renewables Now reported that Germany’s RWE has agreed to supply up to 75 GWh of renewable electricity annually to Air Products to feed the US industrial gases company’s existing hydrogen plants as well as a new hydrogen liquefaction facility currently under construction in Rotterdam.
Under the long-term power purchase agreement (PPA), the electricity will be sourced from RWE’s Karolinapolder onshore wind farm and Kerkrade solar park, both located in the Netherlands, Air Products said.
The US company’s new hydrogen liquefaction plant is scheduled to be commissioned in 2027. It will produce hydrogen that meets the EU requirements for renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBOs).
