U.S. RIN prices plunge as EPA signals small-refinery exemption relief
In Washington, Reuters reports U.S. ethanol blending credits plunged Monday after the EPA extended the September 1 compliance deadline and said it would decide on long-pending small-refinery exemption petitions by the end of August. Conventional D6 RINs fell 34 cents to $1.75, their lowest level since April 15, while 2026 biomass-based diesel RINs dropped to about $1.92. Market participants expect the exemptions to release 1.2 billion–1.8 billion RINs, easing refiners’ compliance burdens. The EPA is reviewing 34 petitions, while uncertainty persists over its record 2026-27 blending mandates.
