Guatemala to begin E10 sales on Aug. 22

August 19, 2026 |

In Guatemala, InfoBAE reports the country will begin on August 22 the sale of regular gasoline with E10 mixture, a combination of 90% gasoline and 10% ethanol that the Government will first apply in the most used fuel in the country, with the expectation of lowering its price, expanding the use of biofuels and modifying a policy that had been launched for decades pending.

The incorporation was fixed in the Ministerial Agreement 333-2026/SG, published on August 5 in the Journal of Central America. The Ministry of Energy and Mines estimated a reduction of between Q0.50 and Q1.50 per gallon in regular gasoline, although it clarified that the final price will depend on market conditions.
