Shanghai port conducts first simultaneous LNG and biomethanol bunkering
In China, Port News reports Shanghai port has completed China’s first simultaneous anchorage bunkering of two international containerships with LNG and biomethanol. From Aug. 15-16, the CMA CGM Osmium received 8,016 metric tons of biomethanol, while Kota Elan took 5,038 cubic meters of LNG at Lvhuashan South Anchorage. Authorities described the biomethanol delivery as a world record for a single methanol bunkering operation. The fuel was sourced mainly from Shanghai Electric’s Taonan project in Jilin and transported through Dalian to Shanghai. Both ship-to-ship operations were conducted simultaneously under enhanced safety and traffic controls.
