Peninsula and Evos plan biofuel hub at Algeciras
In Singapore, Splash Maritime News reported that marine fuel supplier Peninsula and liquid energy and chemicals storage company Evos have agreed to move ahead with dedicated biofuel storage at Algeciras, adding up to 60,000 cu m of capacity at one of Europe’s busiest fuel and shipping hubs.
The companies have signed an MoU that would give Peninsula access to the full storage volume at Evos’ terminal in the Port of Algeciras. The plan is to expand handling for marine biofuels at the Strait of Gibraltar, where shipping traffic is dense, and demand for lower-carbon bunkering is rising, according to the report.
Evos will take the lead on engineering, permitting, and construction, while Peninsula will integrate the new capacity into its wider biofuels supply network. The two sides will now work on a long-term storage and handling agreement, it added.
