US Grains Council promotes corn ethanol as SAF feedstock in Southeast Asia
In India, Chini Mandi reported that the U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council (USGBC) has stepped up efforts to position U.S. corn ethanol as a key feedstock for sustainable aviation fuel, leading a delegation of government officials from Indonesia and Vietnam to the MyAERO Sustainable Aviation Fuel Symposium in Malaysia.
The council used the event to promote alcohol-to-jet (ATJ) technology, which converts ethanol into aviation fuel, as a scalable complement to the currently dominant hydroprocessed esters and fatty acids (HEFA) pathway, according to the report.
USGBC’s Regional Director for Southeast Asia and Oceania Caleb Wurth highlighted the ability of the U.S. agricultural sector to supply sustainable ethanol to meet growing international demand for aviation fuel.
