EU approves EWE-Verbund green hydrogen joint venture
In the UK, Gas World reported that German and Austrian utilities EWE and Verbund have been cleared by the European Commission to form a green hydrogen joint venture (JV).
The previously unannounced JV would see a tie-up between the firm’s green hydrogen businesses EWE Hydrogen and Verbund Green Hydrogen, according to the report.
While details remain sparse, the Commission said the new entity “relates primarily to the production and sale of green hydrogen,” it added.
The Commission concluded the JV formation would not raise competition concerns, given the companies’ “negligible activity” level across the bloc.
