Ineratec gains RFBNO certification for German green hydrogen e-fuels plant

June 25, 2026 |

In the UK, Gas World reported that German e-fuels producer Ineratec has been awarded renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO) certification for its pilot facility near Frankfurt, allowing its synthetic fuels to meet EU targets.

The International Sustainability and Carbon Certification was granted to the firm’s 2,500-ton-per-year Era One plant, which began operating in June 2025.

The facility synthesizes green hydrogen and biogenic carbon dioxide to produce synthetic crude oil for further processing into sustainable aviation fuels, marine fuels, and e-diesel, according to the report.

RFNBO rules require facilities to use entirely renewable energy and achieve greenhouse gas emissions reductions of at least 70% compared to fossil fuels, it added.

The firm said the certification would reduce regulatory risk and support off-take agreements with end-users like airlines and shipping companies.
