EBB calls on EU to create robust, predictable policy framework

June 10, 2026 |

In Belgium, the EU has set a clear path toward 2030 targets and an ambitious 90% net GHG reduction by 2040, a critical piece of the puzzle is missing: long-term, binding regulatory certainty for road transport. The European Biodiesel Board (EBB), representing biodiesel (FAME& HVO) and bioSAF producers in the EU, calls on the ministers to push for a robust, predictable framework, to realistically meet our climate neutrality goals. As the largest final energy consumer in the EU, transport, and specifically road transport, requires an ambitious approach that leaves room for all solutions to contribute. As Ministers gather to discuss the path forward, we urge policymakers to look closely at the post-2030 Renewable Energy Directive (RED) framework. In our recently published position paper, EBB advocates for a framework that continues the current trend of progressively increasing decarbonisation targets.
