In France, LNG Prime reports in a deal valued at $2.66 billion, CMA CGM has ordered 12 15,500 TEU LNG dual-fuel containerships from South Korean conglomerate HD Hyundai. The ships will be constructed at HD Hyundai Samho and HD Hyundai Heavy, with six vessels at each yard. These vessels are set for delivery by June 2028.<\/p>\n
The ships will be equipped with GTT\u2019s Mark III Flex containment technology and MAN ME-GI propulsion systems, enhancing their LNG capabilities, as reported by LNG Prime.<\/p>\n
CMA CGM, a major proponent of LNG as fuel, continues to expand its LNG-powered fleet. The company has already invested over $17 billion in a fleet of nearly 120 LNG- and methanol-powered ships, scheduled for delivery by 2027. This new order will join CMA CGM’s current fleet of around 620 vessels, which includes more than 30 LNG-powered ships.<\/p>\n
As reported by LNG Prime, CMA CGM in 2023 shifted an order for eight methanol-powered containerships from China\u2019s SWS to LNG fuel, further underscoring its commitment to LNG technology. That order, valued at about $1 billion, is for vessels with a capacity of 9,200 TEU.<\/p>\n
