In New Jersey, Swiss flavor and fragrance giant Givaudan has agreed to acquire Ungerer & Company, a producer of fragrance specialty ingredients, including natural essential oils.

Ungerer’s ingredients provide a “rich palette” for flavor and fragrance creation, according to Givaudan.

“The acquisition of Ungerer fits very well with our long term strategy for our core business in flavors and fragrances,” says Gilles Andrier, Givaudan’s CEO. “They have an excellent reputation in the market, thanks to the quality of their specialty ingredients as well as their strong position in the fast growing local and regional customer segment.”

Founded more than 125 years ago, Ungerer has sales in more than 60 countries, and 650 employees across eight manufacturing facilities and six R&D centers. It represents about $250 million of incremental sales to Givaudan’s 2018 results on a pro forma basis. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2020.
