Growth Energy aims for grassroots with Truth Squad, eTeam programs

In Washington, the ethanol promotion and trade association Growth Energy has established numerous ways for consumers and supporters to become more active in support of ethanol and biofuels.

The group has established its eTeam, volunteers who help help communicate the importance of the ethanol industry, not only to policymakers and our elected representatives on Capitol Hill, but also to our friends and neighbors in our local communities. Signing up for the eTeam is completely free and the level of activation is entirely up to you on how much you choose to participate.

The group has also established a “Truth Squad” to monitor blogs and comments “to counteract Big Food’s faux grassroots campaign”, with the group targeting AutoBlogGreen.com. the Wall Street Journals Environmental Capital and Earth2Tech. The group also suggests supporters contact congressional leaders and media in support of ethanol.  “Just keep your replies civil and factual. We have science, research, and several government agencies on our side, so there’s no need to take the low road,” the group advises. “Also, don’t spam – avoid adding more than two links to a comment, and don’t post the same comment more than once. Like we said, the facts are on our side, all we need to do is get them out there. The truth doesn’t need to shout.”

The Digest has yet to hear from Growth Energy, but we live in hope.
