In Canada, Chickadee Creek Energy and Millar Western have proposed construction of a 24 MW biomass-to-energy facility using Taylor Gasification technology in Whitecourt, Alberta. According to the Whitecourt Star, Taylor Gasification technology will generate almost 2X the power generated from burning the biomass, The plant will produce syngas from 272 tons of wood waste biomass and will supply Whitecourt Power.
The onsite plant construction will also eliminate more than 8,000 delivered truckloads of woodwaste that were formerly delivered to Whitecourt Power. The $100 million project is scheduled to be operational in early 2011.
