Destiny, FL, the first master planned sustainable city in the US, adds alternative energy industrial park, will be base for pyrolysis, gasification

Earlier this year in Florida, Dominion Development Partners announced a partnership with Destiny, Florida to create an alternative energy industrial park at Florida’s first eco-sustainable planned city. The 61,000 acre city development project, including 25,000 of preserved open space, will feature a multi-modal transportation system and a master plan for sustainability. The first 500-acre phase of the altenergy park will include a technology incubator, and an academic village and training center, and ultimately is planned to produce thousands of “green collar” jobs. The park is planned to ultimately feature pyrolysis, gasification and other “waste-to-energy” facilities.

Later on, the Destiny eco-sustainable city project was selected as one of 16 founding projects of the Climate Positive Development Program, a Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI) program that will support the development of “climate positive” real estate developments will strive to reduce the amount of on-site CO2 emissions to below zero.

The Climate Positive Development Program was launched by yesterday by former US President Bill Clinton at the C40 Summit in Seoul, South Korea. To reduce the net greenhouse gas emissions of their Climate Positive Development projects to below zero, property developers and local governments will agree to work in partnership on specific areas of activity. This includes implementing economically viable innovations in buildings, the generation of clean energy, waste management, water management, and transportation and outdoor lighting systems.
