In Finland, Metso and UPM announced a joint project to produce bio-oil from wood biomass for power and heat generation. UPM said that it is also testing cellulosic ethanol production, and that a test of bio oil would commence at the Metso plant in Tampere this month.
The companies developed the project in partnership with the Technical Research Centre of Finland and supported by the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation.
