In South Dakota, POET told the Reuters Global Energy Summit that it is on the hunt for acquisitions among distressed ethanol plants, although it was not able to confirm specific properties of closing timetables.
CEO Jeff Broin said that the company’s portfolio of production techniques could turn cerytain properties from money-losers to profitability.
The company has deployed technologies for limiting water discharge with results at 2.64 gallons of water per gallon of ethanol produced. Poet’s BPX process is producing up to 3.0 gallons of fuel per average bushel of corn, up 10 percent from previous industry standard of 2.7 gallons per acre.
