Dow Chemical to partner with Algenol in 24-acre algae facility; ethanol is target as base for bioplastics

Bio Solutions Manufacturing advances on 2.2 Mgy brown grease treatment process

In Nevada, Bio Solutions Manufacturing announced that it had retained Hammerhead Engineering , who successfully completed its second test of their brown grease pre-treatment process.  Hammerhead Engineering will deliver a pre-treatment process and engineering design for a production facility capable of producing 6,000 gallons a day of B100, a biodiesel fuel, which meets ASTM standards. Scania sells 85 ethanol buses to Sweden’s Busslink

In Sweden, Scania will deliver a fleet of 85 ethanol buses Busslink, a regional transport company. The order is the company’s largest to date, offering thermal efficiencies comparable to diesel. Brazilian government, industry agree on sugar cane worker reforms

Two Missouri five-year projects to study algae energy

In Missouri, researchers at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center and Washington University  in St. Louis will launch five-year research programs on algae. The DOE fund for Energy Frontier Research Centers granted the Danforth Center $15 million and Washington University $20 million.
