In Brazil, Shell has acquired the aviation fuel distribution unit from Cosan for $73.8 million. Cosan acquired the unit when it purchased the retail distribution unit of ExxonMobil for $1 billion. Shell said that it has sold more than 400 million gallons of aviation fuel in 2008 at more than 50 Brazilian airports.
Cosan has said it wanted to divest the unit to focus on its core ethanol and sugar operations. The unit sold 150 million gallons of aviation fuel last year at seven airports.
