In Canada, the federal government will invest up to $500 million in advanced biofuels, with projects receiving up to 40 percent of capital costs in the form of 10-year post-completion government loans. Sustainable Development Technology Canada is managing the fund, which are required to locate in Canada and use Canadian feedstocks.
16 startups in biofuels and other clean energy technology have received support since March.
