In California, BP has urged the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to support the elimination of the tariff on Brazilian sugarcane ethanol. Oil & Gas Journal is reporting that the letters says that BP believes that “sugarcane-based ethanol will be the lowest-carbon biofuel available in the first years of the Low-Carbon Fuel Standard.” BP holds a 50 percent stake in the Tropical Bioenergia sugarcane ethanol plant in Brazil’s Goias state.
