In Germany, Süd-Chemie and the Linde Group have launched a pilot cellulosic ethanol plant at the Süd-Chemie research centre in Munich-Obersendling. The plant will use enzymatic hydrolysis to make ethanol from plant straw. The two companies said that they expect to commence construction of a demonstration-scale plant “in the near future”.
