In Washington, US Energy Secretary Steven Chu outlined the $26.4 billion fiscal year 2010 budget for the department. Chu said the budget cuts back on programs that are no longer needed, while making investments in energy independence and job creation. The budget is dwarfed by the $38.7 billion energy investment in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA0 stimulus bill, but expands investments in clean energy, a smart gris and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
