AlgaeVenture Systems touts bioplastics as viable byproduct for algal oils

In Ohio, AlgaeVenture Systems said that algae-based bioplastics are another market of interest for developers of algal oil. The company, which recently launched an algae dewatering system that it claimns reduces the cost of dewatering by more than 90 percent compared to a benchmark cost for centrifuge drying, said that the entire revenue from soy and corn growing in the state of Ohio could be duplicated in a single county by switching to high-yield algae production.
