Southern Online Bio Technologies to add third biodiesel plant in India

In India, Southern Online Bio Technologies announced that it will expand its capacity by adding a third jatropha and pongamia-based biodiesel plant by the close of 2009. The company said that it will establish the new plant in Anantapur, Kurnool or Chittoor districts and will serve Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

The company, which has a current capacity of 3.5 Mgy which it sells to customers such as Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation and South Central Railways, said that the new plant will have a crushing capacity of 500 tons of oil seed per day, and will market omegaa-3 fatty acids and glycerine in addition to biodiesel and seedcake.
