Norway’s Finance Minister proposes to ban gasoline-only cars by 2015

In Norway, Finance Minister Kristin Halvorsen proposed to ban sales of gasoline-only powered cars by 2015, in a move to encourage car makers to develop alternative energy vehicles more rapidly for the Norwegian market.

Halvorsen is a member of the Socialist Left party that is a junior member in the three-party ruling coalition, and commentators said that the proposal was not supported by the Labor Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg and was unlikely to win adoption at this time.
