New tests show E20 causes less wear in automotive fuel pumps than straight gasoline, no difference vs E10

The Minnesota Center for Automotive Research at Minnesota State University, Mankato is reporting that its tests show that an increase from E10 to E20 does not impact endurance or performance of automotive fuel pumps. The study is the fourth in a series dating back to 2008, commissioned by the Renewable Fuel Association to examine the impact of E20. This report examined eight models of fuel pumps, and ran each version for 4000 hours using gasoline, E10 and E20. The study authors said that pump was “significantly less” for E20 than gasoline. The pumps were chosen to represent an array of car makes, models and years. The study results are available here .
