Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva appealed to a US-based investor group yesterday for help and support in eliminating the 53-cent-per-gallon import tariff on Brazilian ethanol. Silva has said that Brazil has not made significant progress in persuading the US to eliminate the tariff, which offsets the ethanol blender credit so that foreign ethanol is not supported by US tax credits.
