In Germany, Verbio Vereinigte BioEnergie AG announced a profit of €13.9 million on sales of €666.6 million in 2008, up from €408 million in 2007. Nearly 38 % of Verbio’s ethanol production was exported, primarily to Eastern Europe. Verbio said in a statement that major improvements in ethanol trading conditions would occur after the implemtation of the sustainability bill in 2011.
