Iowa moving on ethanol pipeline to East Coast, algae R&D

In Iowa, multiple projects are underway to establish an advanced biofuels presence and increased biofuels distribution capacity out of the Midwest. Magellan announced that it is near to finalizing Primghar, Fort Dodge and Mason City as collection hubs for a proposed 250,000 barrel per day ethanol pipeline that would connect the East Coast with ethanol production in the Midwest.

Meanwhile, the state Power Board awarded $2 million to a multiple-company effort led by BioProcessAlgae to establish an algae industry in the state, commencing with a closed photobioreactor project co-located with an ethanol plant.
