New generation in online crop yield forecasting and historical tools

StormX's online crop forecasting, historical tools map state and county data for corn, soy and wheat
Crop yield modeling and historical comparisons have gone to the next level with the introduction of historical and forecasting tools at StormX Agriculture, including free web-based tools for comparing yields as far back as 1960 for corn, wheat and soy on a state and county basis.
For example, the state corn yields in 1960 ranged from Washington state at 83 bushels per acre to 26 bushels per acre in Alabama. In 2008, state yields ranged from 65 bushel per acre in South Carolina to 203 in Washington state. The color coded maps make it possible to visually research and present yields for biofuels crops, as well as look at USDA crop condition and progress charts.
In other weather news, AccuWeather has issued a warning that corn crop planting in critical Midwestern states may be delayed by wet conditions and soil temperatures below 50 degrees.
AccuWeather said that spring planting will be delayed by at least one week. However, good weather conditions are expected for the summer growing season.
