Roundtable on Sustainable Biofuels readies for Version One of sustainability principles; outreach planned for Americas, Europe

At 4th African Biofuels, Annie Surgue presented a compelling overview of the Roundtable on Sustainable Biofuels, an international multi-stakeholder initiative developing principles and criteria for sustainable biofuels production. The presentation is available for download here.

According to Surgue, 270 participants from international organisations, NGOs, private sector and academic institutions from 38 countries helped draft ‘Version Zero’ of the RSB Principles, and
Regional  stakeholder meetings have been held already in Brazil, South Africa, China, India, Mali, and Mozambique.

Further outreach in Europe and North and South America planned for early 2009. Surgue presented a draft scorecard method under consideration as the RSB commences development of Version One of its principles.
