Sierra Club, American Lung Association band with Meat Institute, Petrochemical lobby to oppose increased ethanol blending until more testing done
In Washington, the Sierra Club, American Lung Association, American Meat Institute and the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association urged President Obama and EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson not to increase ethanol blending in gasoline until more testing is completed to determine the extent to which ethanol would harm the environment.
The signatories cited the President’s comments that “Science and the scientific process must inform and guide decisions of my administration on a wide range of issues, including improvement of public health, protection of the environment, increased efficiency in the use of energy and other resources, mitigation of the threat of climate change, and protection of national security.”
