In Germany, Verbio reported a 63 percent increase in sales to 666 million euros, up 63 percent over 2007. The company said that overall biodiesel demand had increased despite increased biodiesel fuel taxes, with a 38 percent increase in demand for biodiesel from Eastern Europe. The company said that its ethanol exports dropped 9 percent for the year. Biodiesel capacity usage reached 93 percent for the year, while ethanol capacity utilization dropped to 51 percent on a slowing ethanol market.
