Industry organizations in the US, Canada and Europe have bended together to form the Global Renewable Fuels Alliance, which will represent more than 60 percent of worldwide biofuels production, according to the founders. The Alliance will promote policies that advance global investment in biofuels, with a focus on not only developed nations but also the prospects of biofuels in developing nations.
“When 38 of the 47 poorest countries on earth rely on crude oil imports for energy something has to change,” said Alliance spokesperson Bliss Baker. The Global Renewable Fuels Alliance called on the World Bank to make investments in developing countries’ biofuels infrastructure a top priority.
