In the Philippines, two major ethanol projects have continued to drive towards completion despite the global economic downturn. All Headline News is reporting that San Carlos BioEnergy commenced production in January at its 8 Mgy sugarcane ethanol and power plant in San Carlos City. Basic Energy is continuing with plans to construct a 13 Mgy sugarcane ethanol plant in Zamboanga del Norte, part of a joint venture with Nexum Energy.
