In the Sudan, Kenana Sugar will commence operations next month at its 16 Mgy sugarcane ethanol plant, the country’s first. Brazil’s Dedini Industrias de Base, supervised construction. The plant is located 150 miles south of Khartoum and will convert molasses to ethanol. The company has contracted for partial off-take for export to the UK for the $800 million sugarcane and ethanol complex. Dedini has been given the opportunity by the Sudanese government to construct up to 18 ethanol plants around the country.
