In Colorado, Lignol and Suncor have cancelled plans to establish a joint venture and placed their $80 million cellulosic ethanol plant on hold, as a result of instability in energy prices, the capital markets. The project was announced last October and included a $30 million DOE grant for the Lignol technology based plant in Grand Junnction. Lignol announced that it would seek new partners, plant locations and move back the proposed development timelines as a result of the collapse of its Suncor alliance.
