In Kenya, the German investment and development bank DEG announced that it would support the organization of eleven jatropha plantations in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, with a focus on researching opportunities to increase jatropha yields through analysis of varietals, soil conditions, water and nutrient requirements. Results from the project will be compared to similar research undertaken with DEG backing in India.
