Minnesota school buses stall in cold; B2 biodiesel to blame?
In Minnesota, the Bloomington Public School system closed last Friday after biodiesel fuel gelled in extreme cold conditions and made it impossible to start up 12 school buses. Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School District commenced lessons two hours late due to the same problem. The buses converted to B2 biodiesel last year and are scheduled to convert to B5 this spring.
A spokesman for the Minnesota Department of Commerce insisted that it was a problem resulting from the use of diesel fuel, rather than biodiesel specifically.
