In Washington, the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) and 33 other renewable energy, environmental and agricultural groups asked Congressional leaders to include funding for important Farm Bill programs and extension of renewable energy production tax credits in in economic recovery legislation.
Brent Erickson, executive vice president of BIO’s Industrial & Environmental Section, said, “Many next-generation projects currently lack access to capital and credit. Federal commitment to the new energy economy that the incoming Obama administration highlighted during the campaign would help secure new investment in viable advanced biofuel projects. Congress right now has an opportunity to ensure that the United States’ economic recovery is both financially and environmentally sustainable.”
