The European Parliament has agreed on a series of new regulations for the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). The EP determined that it would cap imported Change Development Mechanism (CDM) allowances at 2.12 billion tons for the 2013-20 period (up from 1.38 billion in 2008-2012), confirmed the entry of aviation into the ETS in 2012, and said it will add nitrous oxide, methane and other Kyoto gases into the scheme in the post 2012 period.
