In Michigan, gas station owners can now obtain state funds to assist with up to 30 percent of the cost of installing E85 pumps and tanks, with a cap of $20,000. The state fund is $1 million as signed into law last week by Gov. Granholm. The tax credit requires station owners to provide E85 for a minimum of three years; observers were not sure of the popularity of the program given the collapse in conventional gasoline prices. Yesterday, Gov. Granholm removed herself from consideration as the new Commerce Secretary nominee to replace New Mexico governor Bill Richardson.
