GreenShift receives $375,000 from Montana for algae photobioreactor demonstration
In Montana, the state Board of Research awarded $375,000 to GreenShift, to accelerate development of the company’s patented algae bioreactor designs. The grant is designed to demonstrate that algae production can utilize CO2 sequestered by Montana-based industrial companies. GreenShift will provide $125,000 in matching funds for the research. GreenShift plans to co-locate bioreactors at corn ethanol production plants and other fermentation processes where concentrated supplies of carbon dioxide are naturally emitted and are relatively easy to capture and control. GreenShift plans to leverage its existing corn oil extraction platform and presence in the U.S. ethanol industry to reduce capital and go-to-market costs as it brings its bioreactor technologies to market.
