In California, more details emerged from the renewable energy plan approved by the the state Air Resources Board last month. The plan indicated that it projected a fall in gasoline consumption of 4.6 billion gallons by 2020, to 13.3 billion gallons, of which one third will come from renewable resources. The state also recently passed legislation mandating that the carbon footprint of fuels must be reduced by 10 percent by 2020.
