Biofuels Digest Index gains 1.57 percent to 54.82 on ethanol surge

The Biofuels Digest Index™ (BDI), a basket of public biofuels stocks, gained 1.57 percent to close at 54.82 as Aventine Renewables (AVR) led an ethanol pure play surge.  Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) gained 0.38 percent to $28.83,  while Aventine Renewable Energy (AVR) set flight by 47.73 percent to $0.65. Among small caps, Pacific Ethanol (PEIX) jumped 22.22 percent to close at $0.44. Overall, advances led declines by 4 to 1 for the day.
