NCGA offers guidance to corn growers re: bankrupt VeraSun Energy

In Missouri, the National Corn Growers Association has offered guidance to corn growers on the status of present contracts with bankrupt VeraSun Energy, representing more than 10 percent of corn demand from the ethanol industry. The NGCA said that it had formed an Ad Hoc Advisory Committee to represent the interests of corn growers in bankruptcy court. The association also said that the need of individual plants, whether under VeraSun or new ownership in the future, to assure a supply of corn would create some opportunities for corn growers to reach “consensual agreements” on the current above-market price corn contracts.
