Obama “Dream Green Team” tackles Herculean task of addressing jobs, climate change, energy independence
In Washington, the Huffington Post and Reuters have published articles on the efforts of the Obama “Dream Green Team” to establish a strong climate change and alternative energy agenda. The Huffington Post reviews Energy Secretary Steven Chu’s background as a Nobel Prize-winning scientists as well as head of the DOE’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Reuters takes a broader view, looking at the goal of 5 million green jobs that will fall in large part to Chu, former environmental lawyer and U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar as Interior secretary; former New Jersey environment chief Lisa Jackson as EPA administrator; Nancy Sutley, deputy mayor of Los Angeles, as head of White House Council on Environmental Quality; Carol Browner, who headed the Clinton administration’s EPA, as White House policy coordinator on energy, environment and climate change; and Harvard professor John Holdren as White House science advisor.
