India missing E5, B5 mandate targets; biofuel producers plea for higher prices, government says not feasible to pay more

In India, Minister of State for Petroleum Dinsha Patel told the Indian parliament that the request by the Indian sugar industry to raise the ethanol price from 21.5 rupees per liter to 28 Rs was “not feasible”, but conceded that the oil marketing companies had not achieved their ethanol blending requirements because they could not buy enough ethanol at the 21.50 Rs price to meet the E5 mandate.  He added that the oil marketing companies in India had not been able to achieve targeted B5 blend ratios because biodiesel producers were unwilling or unable to sell at the specified price of 26.50 Rs per liter.
