Connecticut makes $135K grant to study Long Island algae species for fuel potential

In Connecticut, the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology has made a $135,276 grant to researchers from the University of New Haven to analyze algae species along Long Island Sound to determine their potential value for fuel creation. The project is the first to look at Long Island algal species. The research team will gather algae, cyanobacteria and phytoplankton under a grant that comes from the Connecticut Fuel Diversification Grant Program.
